Read our editorial-independence policy before applying. We take sponsorship from organizations whose mission aligns with the work — civic-tech funders, journalism foundations, justice-reform funders, libraries, universities. We do not take impressions-paid advertising, native sponsorship that affects editorial, or money from entities downstream of carceral expansion.
No current sponsors as of 2026. This page is a framework — we'll publish funder names, amounts (in ranges), and engagement terms here as soon as we have any.
Sponsors receive a logo placement, an annual-report mention, and a thank-you in the year-end summary. They do not receive: editorial pre-review, draft access, choice of beat, choice of subject, or the ability to suppress reporting.
We disclose funder identity on every relevant story. If we are reporting on an organization that funds us, that fact is disclosed in the dateline, not buried in a footer.
We do not take sponsorship from: private-prison operators, parole-monitoring companies, prison commissary contractors, jail phone-call companies, electronic-monitoring vendors, surveillance-tech vendors, or any entity whose revenue depends on carceral expansion. We will say no in writing if you ask.
Expect a 10-business-day response. Include the organization name, funding source, and proposed support amount.
